Recycle The Right Way

Recycling in Ulster County is mandatory and we strive to eliminate as much waste as possible. Our recycling program for residential customers includes plastic, glass, metal, mixed paper and corrugated cardboard.
​Our recycling collection schedule is currently, weekly on Mondays. All customers are supplied with dedicated recycling containers. 

First Capital Hauling works directly with The Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency to ensure that all collected materials are sorted and processed correctly.

Unacceptable Items for Recycling

These items can be harmful to the collection, sorting, processing, and marketability of recyclable items. When in doubt, or if you have any questions about acceptable items for recycling, please contact us.
Take-out, to-go containers, hinged salad or berry containers, bakery domes
Coat hangers, garden hoses, belts, clothing, chains, ropes, wires, etc.
Plastic shopping bags, plastic food bags, shrink wrap from products, etc.
To-go utensils, cups, straws, plates, napkins, paper towels, etc.
Miscellaneous toys, baskets, furniture, totes, auto parts, scrap metal, etc.
Cell phones, batteries, CD's, wires, appliances, etc.
Expanded polystyrene foam blocks, packing peanuts, cups, plates, etc.
SHARPS, needles, medication bottles, chemicals, etc.
Pizza boxes should be thrown away with your trash, not cardboard.
Meat trays, black containers, flower pots, etc.
Ceramics, dishes, glassware, mirrors, windows, etc.
Large or small milk/juice & beverage/snack pouches
